Who Is Garth Brooks’ Accuser? She Used to Work for the Singer
In October 2024, country music superstar Garth Brooks was hit with a serious lawsuit filed by a former employee who accused him of sexual assault and rape. The woman, identified in legal documents as “Jane Roe,” previously worked as a hairstylist and makeup artist for Brooks—and before that, for his wife, Trisha Yearwood, dating back to 1999 (Distractify, The Wall Street Journal).
According to court filings, Jane Roe began styling Brooks himself around 2017, though she had been part of Yearwood’s team for nearly two decades (EW.com, New York Post). The lawsuit alleges that starting in 2019, Brooks began subjecting her to unwelcome and explicit behavior. The complaint outlines a series of disturbing incidents: Brooks allegedly exposed himself repeatedly, sent sexually explicit texts, made unsolicited comments and sexual fantasies, and changed clothes in her presence (Distractify, People.com, Vanity Fair).
The gravest accusation emerged during a 2019 work-related trip to Los Angeles, where Jane Roe claims Brooks raped her in a single-bedroom hotel room arranged for both of them. This event, she alleges, was not only traumatic but also coercive—immediately following the assault, she says he forced her back to work on his behalf (People.com, The Wall Street Journal).
In response, Brooks has unequivocally denied the allegations, calling them a sham and a calculated extortion attempt. He described himself as being “hassled… like having a loaded gun waved in my face,” and insists the accusations are false and motivated by financial demands (People.com, The Wall Street Journal). In fact, he filed a preemptive lawsuit under the alias “John Doe” in Mississippi, aiming to block the allegations and portray himself as defamed—the lawsuit later named the accuser directly (aol.com, The Wall Street Journal).
