Australian Fighter Alex Roberts Predicts an Intense Fight for the Inaugural Muay Thai Heavyweight Championship
Perth’s own Muay Thai sensation Alex “The Viking” Roberts believes the inaugural ONE Championship Heavyweight Muay Thai World Title bout promises to be nothing short of explosive.
Roberts, a respected WBC Muay Thai Heavyweight world champion, is set to make his mark on the global stage when he meets the formidable Roman Kryklia—ONE’s undefeated Light-Heavyweight Kickboxing World Champion and Heavyweight Kickboxing Grand Prix winner—in a truly historic main event on December 8, 2023, at Bangkok’s iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium (7NEWS, onefc.com).
In his own words, Roberts is looking forward to “putting on a show for the crowd,” describing the clash as a battle between two heavyweights “absolutely cracking in at 100 percent.” He predicts: “We’re going to go in there to get a finish in an amazing fight. It’s going to be one for the ages.”—a declaration of confidence and intent (7NEWS, onefc.com, | BJPenn.com).
Roberts brings more than bravado—his background as “The Fight Physio,” a qualified physiotherapist, combines deep understanding of the body with his fight game, enabling him to train full-time and dominate the Australian Muay Thai scene, most notably by capturing the WBC Heavyweight title earlier in 2023 (7NEWS, Cage.news).
This match marks an immense opportunity—not just for Roberts personally, but for his team, his country, and fans longing to witness history. He’s expressed that this is the realization of a long-term dream: a journey mapped out years ago, from local WBC titles to the global spotlight of ONE Championship (7NEWS, onefc.com).
